Tropfest will celebrate its 20th anniversary in Las Vegas with “indie spirited” musical performances and an all-star competition featuring films from the festival over the past 20 years.

A panel of industry and celebrity judges will select from 12 finallists. This year’s Tropfest Australia featured a panel that included Nicole Kidman, Cate Blanchet, Toni Collette, Geoffrey Rush, Baz Luhrmann and Tobey Maguire.

“Together we will plant the indie film flag in Las Vegas and establish the city as a hotspot of film culture,” Tropfest founder and director John Polson said.

“Tropfest filmmakers have created some ground-breaking short films over the years, and I’m thrilled the US audience can experience them first hand with our All-Star competition.”

Festival alumni include Avatar’s Sam Worthington and rising Australian star Joel Edgerton, who will be seen later this year in Baz Lurhmann’s The Great Gatsby. The event will take place at The Cosmopolitan from Jun 1-3.
