Hilary And Jackie director Anand Tucker is to direct Guy Fawkes story November 5 for Charles Finch and Luc Roeg's UK production-management company Artists' Independent Network.
Tucker is aiming to start shooting late next year from a script by his regular collaborator Frank Cottrell Boyce. AIN, which has credits including Spider and Mike Bassett: England Manager, is developing and to produce the project in-house.
"They have come up with a really original take on the story, but it will also use factual history," said Roeg. "There is a personal story as well."
Guy Fawkes, one of the world's most famous terrorists, attempted to blow up King James I and the Houses of Parliament in the 17th century. The date is commemorated in the UK with fireworks on November 5.
