Organisers of the newly created TV Forum Europe have unveiled details of the event, which will celebrate its first edition next year in Barcelona between February 18-21.

According to organiser Bernard Chevry, the Forum "is reserved exclusively for the commercialisation of rights to European television product and is directed at buyers and programming executives from around the world."

Product screenings will be separated into seven genres, including documentaries, news, sports, entertainment, fiction, children's programmes and music. The Forum will also make available a business centre and schedule daily debates on current sector-related topics.

The event, which will take place in the 10,000 square-metre complex of Pedrosa de la Fira, hopes to attract as many as 500 buyers to its inaugural edition. The Catalan regional government has signed on to back the event.

Chevry is the founder of the Reed Midem Organisation, organisers of the various MipTV, Mipcom and Midem markets. Reed Midem is not involved in the new TV Forum.
