Optimum Releasing has acquired UK theatrical rights to Peaches, a Stone Ridge Entertainment production written and directed by Nick Grosso.

The acquisition follows Optimum's acquisition this week of three titles: comedy thriller Ginger Snaps; French-language film Le Secret and Suri Krishnamma's coming-of-age drama New Year's Day (Screendaily.com, May 2).

Peaches is billed as a lighthearted comedy centred on a group of jobless graduates in London. It was originally a stage play, written by Grosso, that opened in the Royal Court Theatre in 1994. World sales for the title are being handled by Victor Films.

It is the first film to be produced by Stone Ridge, which is part of Irish exhibition company the Ward Anderson Group.

Founded two years ago by Will Clark, Optimum is this month releasing Amores Perros. The company's recent titles include Born Romantic, on which it partnered with MGM/UA.
