Unified Film Organization (UFO), the LA-based production and sales operation in which publicly traded German distributor Advanced Medien took a 51% stake earlier this year, has launched a theatrical level division called Consolidated Motion Pictures.

First film to come out of the division is $6m New York-set romantic comedy Snatched with Friends and Whole Nine Yards star Matthew Perry. Jace Alexander, a TV director of The Practice, Law And Order and others, will direct the movie, about three women and their relationships. It will start shooting on March 15 next year.

Another film on the Consolidated slate is Tupac Vs, a "rapumentary" featuring one of the last live concerts by Tupac Shakur recorded one month before his murder. UFO chiefs Jeff Beach and Phil Roth said that 50% of the concert consists of previously unreleased recordings. It will be ready for delivery to coincide with Sept 6, the fifth anniversary of his death.
