USA Films has finally completed its US acquisition this week of Shane Meadows' critically acclaimed drama A Room For Romeo Brass, according to reports at the Sundance Film Festival. The deal was made between USA and the film's backer/producer Alliance Atlantis Communications.

USA has been eyeing the film since its world premiere at the Edinburgh Film Festival last August. It also played at the Toronto Film Festival in September and screened in the World Cinema section of the Sundance Film Festival.

A Room For Romeo Brass is the story of two teenage friends in Nottingham and stars newcomers Andrew Shim and Ben Marshall alongside Ben Hoskins, who was also in Meadows' first feature 24/7 - distributed domestically by October Films, now itself a distribution label of USA Films.

Producers on the film were George Faber and Charles Pattinson, with Andras Hamori and David M Thompson executive producing. Alliance Atlantis is releasing the film through its own distribution outlets in Canada and the UK; Alliance Atlantis partner Kinowelt has German rights.
