Indian producer-distributor UTV Motion Pictures has signed a DVD on-demand deal with US-based TitleMatch Entertainment Group for distribution of its library titles via retailers and e-tailers in North America.

TitleMatch is a subsidiary of Protocall Technologies Inc, developer of the world's first CSS enabled DVD on-demand service.

Titles covered by the deal include Rang De Basanti, Khosla Ka Ghosla, Taxi 9211, Life In A...Metro and Parineeta.

TitleMatch's DVD On-Demand service enables movie studios and retailers to burn video content directly in stores and at website distribution centres at the time orders are placed.

At retail stores, consumers can browse and select products from multi-media touch-screen terminals, which are then produced behind the counter by store personnel.

For online orders, consumers browse and select available titles from an e-tailer's website, with orders produced at product distribution centres or store locations by using the system's TitleMatch Factory.

'TitleMatch is at the forefront of a very exciting new distribution model that can substantially increase availability of our movies in the US retail market,' said Siddharth Roy Kapur, UTV's EVP - marking, distribution and syndication.

'Major retailers can use the TitleMatch service to tailor product selection by region or even by individual store location, which is ideal for us.'

TitleMatch president Syd Dufton added: 'We believe there is a tremendous revenue opportunity with UTV in many geographic markets throughout the United States where demand is particularly strong for movies from India.'
