We Distribution has sold Peter Ho-sun Chan’s $20m Wu Xia to Luxuries Resources for both Singapore and Malaysia for a record-breaking seven-digit figure.

 Although the figure was not disclosed, it’s the highest amount ever paid for a Chinese film in those territories. PT Teguh Bakti also acquired the film for Indonesia.

We Distribution is handling international sales for all territories except China, Hong Kong and Taiwan which will be handled by the company’s branch offices.

Directed by Chan and produced by his production house We Pictures, Wu Xia is currently shooting in China’s Yunnan province with a cast headed by Donnie Yen, Takeshi Kaneshiro and Tang Wei.

Legendary action star Jimmy Wang Yu, who starred in Chang Cheh’s One- Armed Swordsman, also recently joined the cast, marking his first on-screen appearance in 17 years.
