The Ffresh Student MovingImage Festival, held annually in Aberystwyth, Wales, has received backing fromthe newly established Film Agency for Wales.

The agency has set up an $85,840(£45,000) funding package for the festival, which will be held Feb 15-16 at AberystwythArts Centre. The event is now in its sixth year, and it supports emerging Welshtalent.

"Our investment in theFfresh Student Moving Image Festival demonstrates our commitment to nurture newfilm and media talent in Wales, in line with our brief to facilitate theemergence of a viable and sustainable Welsh film industry," said PaulineBurt, chief executive of the Film Agency for Wales. "The 2006 festival washighly successful, attracting over 240 entries from students over 12universities and colleges. I am confident that next year's event will beeven better and would like to encourage film professionals and enthusiasts togo along to Aberystwyth to experience for themselves the quality and creativityof the work featured."
