Robert Whitton, commercially property investment expert and CEO of aAIM Group, has launched a new production company with director Richard Attenborough and producer Jo Gilbert.
The company is named Real Holywood Productions, after its Belfast neighborhood. Real Holywood intends to focus on Northern Ireland-based productions.
Attenborough and Gilbert recently shot the partially Belfast-set epic drama Closing The Ring (which The Works will release theatrically in the UK and Ireland.)
Whitton said: 'I have always had a keen interest in theatre and film, and became involved in [Closing The Ring] through close friend Jo Gilbert. This has extended into setting up Real Holywood Productions, which will make the most of the Belfast film industry's recent growth, reflecting the province's recent prosperity and regeneration.
'We plan to produce three films over the next two years and are already talking with some very exciting talent about the new projects,' Whitton revealed. The company is talking to the likes of Maggie Smith, Judi Dench, and Peter O'Toole about appearing in future projects.
Real Holywood will launch with the release of a documentary about Lord Attenborough himself, which includes interviews with Ben Kingsley, Steven Spielberg, Anthony Hopkins and Shirley MacLaine.
