Giulia Filippelli is stepping down as head of the Toronto International Film Festival's Sales and Industry Office after a three years. Replacing her is Stefan Wirthensohn, who has worked closely with Filippelli through her tenure on the strategy and administration of the office. The changes take effect January 1, 2008.

Now based in London, Filippelli will continue to work with the office as a consultant. Wirthensohn, Filippelli and TIFF co-director Noah Cowan will attend next February's Berlinale to connect with the international industry towards TIFF 2008.

'In a few short years, Giulia has helped change the way this organization relates to and serves the international industry without compromising our unique character as a film festival, not a market,' said Cowan in a statement. 'We are sad not to have her here with us every day but are extremely pleased that she will work with us for the foreseeable future to ensure our continued success on an international front.'
