Going into itssecond week Universal's 2 Fast 2 Furious added $5.2m from 840 theatres in sixterritories over the weekend to raise its international running total to $9.9m.

In a slew ofstrong bows the street-racing sequel opened number one in Mexico on $1.8m from363 sites, registering 39% market share for Universal's seventh biggestopening there.

It was more thandouble the opening of The Fast And The Furious ($816,000) and 8 Mile ($817,000).

In Brazil, wherethe grosses are still coming in, it opened second behind Bruce Almighty on an estimated $700,000 from 161.

The result isdouble the opening of The Fast And The Furious ($350,000) and Universal's fifthbiggest bow ever.

New Zealandproduced a number one opening on $546,000 from 45 sites for 50% market shareand the distributor's biggest opening of the year there.

According to thedistributor the results were 70% bigger than the original's $322,000opening.

In Taiwan thefilm placed first on $585,000 from 51, taking more than three times theoriginal's $191,000 haul and 8 Mile's $159,000.

In its secondweek in Australia, 2 Fast 2 Furious dropped 59% and stayed at number one, adding $1.5m from 215 foran excellent $6.2m running total.

It enjoys a 30%market share and has already passed the original's $5.2m final gross.

Lastweek's $3.8m bow from 212 sites was 119% more than the original's$1.7m haul and Universal's fourth biggest opening weekend behind TheLost World, Twister and Liar Liar.

This weekend thefilm is due to open in 14 territories including the UK, France, Germany, Italyand Spain.

As for otherUniversal pictures, 8 Mile raised its international cumulative score to $120.7m after an$816,000 fourth-week haul from 235 in Japan, dropping 21% to raise theterritory total to $10.3m.

JohnnyEnglish passed $110mover the weekend after grossing $358,000 from 859 sites in 13 territories. Itscumulative score is now $110.3m.

The comedy hasfive more territories to go, including France on Jul 23 and Japan on Oct 4.
