UK hit Ali G IndaHouse debuted outside its home territory last weekend, storming straight to the top of The Netherlands' chart.

Distributor UIP launched the comedy, which is the feature debut for Sacha Baron Cohen's alter ego, in The Netherlands on May 2 and recorded an impressive four day debut of $380,288 (Euro 415,275). Ali G scored the highest opening in the territory since Ocean's Eleven, which opened on January 10 to take a four-day weekend of $729,448 (Euro 796,557) on 91 screens.

The launch beat the openings for all recent Hollywood fare in the country, including The Scorpion King, Ice Age, Showtime and Panic Room.

Playing on 50 screens, Ali G scored a mighty average of $7,606, boding well for UIP's international release of the film which continues in July with Cyprus and South Africa.

Slated for a preliminary August release in the US, the film has already grossed $15m (£10.2m) in the UK where it opened on March 22.
