Altadena Films has acquired international rights to documentary Celia The Queen and comedy feature City Rats.

Celia The Queen , co- directed by Joe Cardona and Mario De Varona, is a documentary that pays tribute to legendary singer Celia Cruz. It was executive produced by Antonio Gijon and Gabriel Mena of Hispafilms.

The documentary traces Celia's exile from Cuba up until her tragic death in 2003 and includes live concert footage and candid interviews with Cruz, David Byrne, Quincy Jones, Andy Garcia, and Gloria Estefan.

Celia The Queen was in the official selections of several film festivals including the Tribeca Film Festival and the Latin American Film Festival in Los Angeles.

City Rats, a William Borthwick and Dean Fisher black comedy, marks the cinematic debut of TV drama director, Steve M Kelly. It tells the story of eight haunted people looking for redemption in each other. The cast includes Danny Dyer, Susan Lynch, Kenny Doughty, Tamer Hassan and Ray Panthaki.

Altadena's slate includes Edinburgh premiere Bigga Than Ben and Gaelic family feature Seachd: The Crimson Snowdrop.
