Artisan Entertainment has promoted marketing executive Amorette Jones to the newly created position of executive vice president, worldwide marketing, Artisan Pictures.

Jones will continue to report to Artisan's president of worldwide marketing John Hegeman, but she will assume more of his duties while he takes a more active role in developing internet opportunities for the company.

Jones will manage the day-to-day operations of the theatrical marketing department, formulate release strategies on Artisan films and oversee its consumer products division.

For the past two years, she has served as senior vice president of marketing at Artisan Pictures where she was involved in the marketing and licensing campaigns for The Blair Witch Project and Buena Vista Social Club, among others.

Jones and Hegeman worked together at MGM and Orion before moving to Artisan. She began her career at Universal Pictures, moving to Columbia TriStar and then MGM/UA. On the consumer products side, she was executive vice president of marketing at Loud Records/Steve Rifkind Company.

Artisan's 2000 slate includes several pictures for which the company has worldwide rights including Roman Polanski's The Ninth Gate starring Johnny Depp, Darren Aronofsky's Requiem For A Dream, Christopher McQuarrie's The Way Of The Gun with Ryan Philippe and Juliette Lewis, teen horror movie Soul Survivors with Wes Bentley and Casey Affleck and Blair Witch 2 which is set to open domestically on Halloween.
