Ocean's Twelve was the most popular film at the box office on theweekend, grossing A$4,580,657 from 378 screens for Roadshow, which equated to avery strong screen average of A$12,118. By way of comparison, only four filmshave exceeded this result in the last six months - Spider-Man 2 (A$7.13m), Bridget Jones: The Edge OfReason (A$5.59m), The Bourne Supremacy (A$4.88m) and I, Robot(A$4.64m).

With so many cinemagoerskeen to see Ocean's Twelve there was a bit of odd behaviour in the top10. BVI's National Treasure, for example, fell six places after spendingtwo consecutive weekends at the top of the chart. Christmas With The Krankswas able to claim second spot for Columbia TriStar with a gross of A$844,677from 223 screens, despite taking only about A$40,000 more last weekend andopening fifth. The Polar Express, in its fourth weekend for Roadshow,actually sold more tickets than last weekend and rose two places in the chartto fourth position. Team America: World Police and Saw, both intheir second weekend, were third and fifth respectively.

There were two other openingfilms in the chart besides Ocean's Eleven. Deep Blue grossedA$90,522 from 49 screens for Hopscotch and Wicker Park grossed A$70,417from 97 screens for 20th Century Fox to land the thirteenth and fourteenthspots.

But another film showing itsface for the first time, but on previews, grossed more. It was TheMotorcycle Diaries, which took A$116,345 from 26 screens for Dendy to claimthe twelfth spot.
