Frenchdistributor Bac Films has officially launched a new sales outfit to be calledBac Films International, the company announced Monday.

Thedepartment will be run by Silvere Moreau, who will work to sell theatrical, TVand video rights to foreign distributors. Bac said the objective would be tohandle international sales on six films per year.

Thefirst film handled by Bac Films International is San Sebastian festival winner TurtlesCan Fly from director BahmanGhobadi. The film has already been sold in ten territories including the UK,Canada, Benelux, Australia, Spain and Latin America.

Otherfilms in the line up thus far include Coquillages Et Crustaces by Olivier Ducastel and Jacques Martineau, LaCaisse from Pierre Jolivet and LaPlanete Blanche from StephaneMilliere and Thierry Piantanida.

BacFilms, which had gone through a few rocky years, was recently taken over Millimages. The French animation studio acquired a 51% stake.

RochLerner, CEO of Millimages, was named chairman of Bac in Junewhile Bac founder Jean Labadie now holds 25% of the company and the post ofmanaging director.
