Peter Henton, a former member of the board of directors atBAFTA/LA who served as producer of the Britannia Awards for the past 15 years,has died aged 60.

Henton arrived in Los Angeles from the UK in 1984 and spent hisentire career in the film and television business. For several years he servedas head of production for Showscan. His own production company, Dover Films,produced numerous live events and awards shows, many of which were televised.

In film, he specialised in documentary projects, large format 70mmand high definition productions, most of which were independently financed forthe IMAX theatre circuit.

A statement from the BAFTA/LA office read: 'The word'gentleman' most aptly describes Peter Henton. His charm and cool demeanour,coupled with his expertise in his specialised field, made him much sought-afterand much loved. It is almost impossible to express the grief we feel at hispassing.'

A memorial service will be take place on Nov 4 at 11am at St BedeThe Venerable Catholic Church, 215 Foothill Blvd, La Canada Flint Ridge, CA91011. A party to celebrate his life will follow the service at 535 MeadowGrove St La Canada, CA 91011.
