Bavaria Film International has closed its first sale on Krabat ahead of the first public screening of the film, to Russia's Film Depot.

Bavaria Film International's Head of Sales Stefanie Zeitler announced the deal.

Marco Kreuzpaintner's 1646-set drama about an orphan who trains to be a sorcerer's apprentice, adapted from Otfried Preussler's international bestseller, stars David Kross and Daniel Bruhl. Krabat plays here at TIFF in Sprockets Family Zone.

Bavaria has also seen interest from buyers in the US, Japan, Spain, France, Italy and Eastern Europe.

Bavaria has also seen strong sales interest - especially from French buyers - on Carlos Sorin's The Window (La Ventana). That Patagonia-set feature is about a concert pianist reuniting with his elderly father.
