Eight new openers in the marketplace could not prevent local hit The Alzheimer Case from claiming its rightful place at the top of the Belgian box office chart last weekend.

The psychological thriller has recorded a massive 131,200 admissions after 12 days on release and grossed $930,164 (Euros 786,919). The Alzheimer Case added two prints this weekend, its second, and saw grosses rise 24% week-on-week putting it ahead of both last week's leader Bad Boys II and a host of new releases including Intolerable Cruelty.

Following the Coen Brothers' comedy, which placed third, was French action comedy Tais-Toi! Francis Veber's film, about two very different convicts who escape from prison in order to retrieve a large sum of hidden money, took the fourth spot on the chart with a $189,732 (Euros 160,513) from 28 screens for a strong average of $6,776. Tais-Toi!, which stars Gerard Depardieu and Jean Reno, has taken $203,505 (Euros 172,165) including previews.
