The remaining five films in competition add significantly to the Asian content of this year's Berlin festival and put increased emphasis on the Holocaust.

The new additions, which complete the line-up, are headed by Chinese-German co-production Blind Shaft (Mang Jing), a first feature by documentary director Li Yang. The film about daily life in an open-cast mine is understood to have been strongly sought by Cannes.

Another big Asian production is Zhou Yu's Train, a Gong Li and Tony Leung Ka Fai-starring romance by Sun Zhou, which screens out of competition.

New to the line up are Isabel Coixet's My Life Without Me, a Spanish-Canadian deathbed drama, and Rolf De Heer's thriller Alexandra's Project.

Chief selector Dieter Kosslick, confirmed previously reported competition slots for Pieter Kramer's Dutch musical Yes Nurse, No Nurse (Ja Zuster, Nee Zuster) and Michael Winterbottom's refugee tale In This World.

Additional out-of competition special screenings go to Thomas Vinterberg's Its All About Love; Lone Scherfig's Wilbur Wants To Kill Himself; Marceline Loridan-Ivens, tale of deportation to Auschwitz A Birch Tree Meadow (La Petite Prairie Aux Bouleaux), which stars festival honouree Anouk Aimee; Atom Egoyan's Ararat; Jeff Kanew Holocaust tale Babij Jar; and the Wim Wenders presented Chekov adaptation Three Days Of Rain, by Michael Meredith.
