German distributorJugendfilm is to handle all re-releases of parent company Kinowelt, starting with another outing for The Blair Witch Project ahead of rivaldistributor Highlight's premiere of Blair Witch Project 2: Book of Shadows.

The re-release of the horror phenomenon will open on October 19 on more than 150 prints three weeks ahead of the film's follow-up. Jugendfilm now has access to 600 titles from thelibraries of Kinowelt and affiliated sub-labels such as Arthaus.

Economically priced films will be offered to exhibitors with the aim of revitalising theatrical prospects for titles such as Scream, Music Of The Heart, The Cider House Rules and Fitzcarraldo.

Jugendfilm plans to use the Internet to market of its titles, with the goal of having information about the library on the Web by the end of the year. Online booking and reservations are to be added in the near future.

After the death of Jugendfilm founder Juergen Wohlrabe, the once thriving distributor struggled to keep its position in the German marketplace. Last October, Kinowelt Medien AG acquired it in order to keep the operation running as an additional, independent label within the company.
