The 5th annual Deauville Festival of Asian Film wrapped last week with a slew of prizes going to German/Chinese/Hong Kong co-production Blind Shaft

The film, directed by Li Yang, took home five awards: Best Film, Best Director, the audience award, the critics' prize and Best Actor for Wang Baoqiang.

Currently banned in China, Blind Shaft is based on an award winning book that tells the story of two murderous miners in rural China. The film won a Silver Bear from the critics' jury in Berlin for artistic merit and will premiere in the US at the Tribeca Film Festival in May.

The Lotus for Best Actress went to two actresses, Rachel Maryam Sayidina and Jajang C. Noer for Indonesian picture Eliana, Eliana from director Riri Riza
