Seattle-basedThe Film Company (TFC), producers of Guy Maddin's Brand Upon The Brain!, has linedup four feature projects to further its artist-driven slate.

Firstup is The Part I Love The Best from Seattle artist Megan Murphy, set to shootin October. Next, Bosnian filmmakerVesna Ljubic will head into productionon her first English-language project in April of 2007. JoieLee, the artist sister of filmmaker Spike Lee, will direct a fourth project;its title and start date are not set.

Foundedin 2004 by Gregg Lachow, TFC is a re-imagining of the original Hollywood studiomodel, where a permanent creative and technical team work on a continousproduction cycle. Instead of inhouse directors however, TFC seeks out artistsrather than projects and then crafts the entire package, from concept todistribution. "We tell our fiilmmakers to make the film they want and we willfind an audience for the film," Lachow told Screendaily.

TFC hasalso backed Lynn Shelton's We Go Way Back, which won the grand jury prize for BestFeature at Slamdance 2006.
