The Federation Again Copyright Theft (FACT) in the UK has appointed Brian Robertson as its chairman, effective immediately.

He replaces Marek Antoniak of Sony Pictures, who recently resigned from the post after serving for 11 years.

Robertson has held senior UK and European finance positions at Sony Pictures Entertainment and is current chair of the FACT finance committee.

He was voted in unanimously at the FACT board meeting on May 24.

"I would personally like to thank Marek for the dedication shown during his time as Chairman," said Raymond Leinster, FACT director general. "He has been of immense help to myself and to the organisation as we continue to enhance our capabilities fighting film piracy in the UK. I look forward to working with Brian to ensure that we are equipped to tackle the new challenges presented from digital and online piracy as well as the sustained threat from more traditional forms of piracy."
