Canadian exhibitor Cineplex Entertainment has promoted Jason Fulsom to vice president, film.

The promotion, effective immediately, increases Fulsom's responsibilities to include the negotiation and programming of films for the Toronto market, working with the US majors and independent distributors as well as liaising with the exhibitor's corporate sales and alternative programming departments.

'Jason brings 11 years of film buying and booking experience to the position and that experience, coupled with his numerous other talents, have resulted in his becoming one of the most respected and well liked film industry executives in the business,' said Michael Kennedy, executive vice president, filmed entertainment in a statement. 'Jason is as solid as they come and demonstrates a passion for this business everyday.'

Fulsom was formerly executive director, film programming for Cineplex, and held various positions in the film department at Famous Players Theatres before it was acquired by Cineplex.
