For the 60th edition of Cannes the festival called on 35 directors to make 33 short films in honour of the event, themed around the movie theatre.

Says festival president Gilles Jacob: "I wanted to see if it would be possible to gather a big number of very short films and to tie them together in a way that would elicit emotion, resonance, dissonance. An experimental popular film, in a way."

Chacun Son Cinema features shorts from such luminaries as the Coen brothers, Roman Polanski, Ken Loach, Chen Kaige, Wim Wenders, Abbas Kiarostami, Claude Lelouch and Wong Kar Wai.

Working on the film was a small team from the festival and Paris-based Elzevir Films. Financing came from the CNC, Canal+, the Fncf and L'Oreal Paris. Sales will be handled by StudioCanal.
