Celador founder Paul Smith, who recently steered the TV production company behind Who Wants To Be A Millionaire' into features, is stepping back from the day to day running of the company.

Smith will continue to head the company as executive chairman but is handing over hands-on management to former Channel 4 head of entertainment Danielle Lux, who takes the post of managing director. As executive chairman, Smith is expected to focus on ongoing strategy for the company, including the film arm.

Smith oversaw Celador's move into features with its first film, Stephen Frears' Dirty Pretty Things, and a follow-up slate at Celador Films under head of film Christian Colson.

He uses a high-risk but potentially highly lucrative strategy of investing Celador's own cash into productions such as Julian Fellowes' A Way Through The Woods which is currently shooting with Emily Watson, Tom Wilkinson and Rupert Everett.

Lux's commissions at Channel 4 included Bo Selecta and Without Prejudice. She co-produced Ali G In Da USA with HBO.
