Liberty Global's European content division Chellomedia has acquired a 25% stake in London-based Shorts International.

The deal is done by subsidiary LGI Ventures BV, which specialized in minority investments.

Financial terms were not disclosed, but Chellomedia will have a non-executive director on the board of Shorts International.

Shorts International's projects include channel ShortsTV, mobile phone platforms and short films available on Joost and iTunes. ShortsTV, now reaching 3.2m households in France, Belgium, and Luxembourg, will expand in other European territories later this year.

Shane O'Neill, president of Chellomedia, said: 'We believe the ShortsTV channel and its content concept has great potential internationally and its activities complement our own media activities. The management team has established a good base in the US and France very rapidly.'
