The $33,000 (Euros 22,000) Silver Alexander award went to Colombian Spiros Stathoulopoulos' PVC-1.
Best director was Estonian Veiko Ounpuu for the Cannes entrant Autumn Ball.
Greek film 'Correction' won the best script for Thanos Anastasopoulos, who also directed, and Vassilis Raisis.
There was also a local winner of the best actress award with Anna Lalasidou taking the plaudits for her role in Elli Makra - 42277 Wuppertal.
Best Actor was Colombian Alberto Sornoza for PVC-1.
John Malkovich and John Sayles were among the visiting stars at this year's event.
