New York-based independent producer Christine Vachon will receive the 2001 Outfest Achievement Award at this year's Outfest, the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Film Festival, next month.

Vachon, a pioneer in gay cinema and a partner in Killer Films, has credits including this year's opening night film at Outfest Hedwig And The Angry Inch as well as Poison, Swoon, Go Fish, Stonewall, Velvet Goldmine, Boys Don't Cry and I Shot Andy Warhol.

Actress Camryn Manheim, who starred in Vachon production Happiness, will present her with the award at the Opening Night Gala on July 12 before the screening of Hedwig.
