Cinemark International continues to redraw the LatinAmerican exhibition map with the announcement that it will open theseven-screen Mall del Sur complex in Ecuador, on Oct 20.

Cinemark's thirdmultiplex in the country is equipped with more than 1,400 stadium-style seatsand will be part of a larger shopping centre in the southern part of the cityof Guayaquil.

In a statementCinemark president Tim Warner said: "Cinemark is constructing a modern,state-of-the-art complex that should grow the movie viewing market inGuayaquil."

The exhibitor,which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, opened its first two theatresin 1997 and remodelled both sites last year.

It operates3,238 screens in 33 states and 13 countries outside the US including Argentina,Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua,Panama, Peru and Taiwan.
