Family and lighthearted faredominate the international weekend as Hollywood's international distributiondivisions try to maximise the global opportunity presented by Easter weekend.

Warner Bros PicturesInternational opens the comedy sequel Miss Congeniality 2: Armed AndFabulous day-and-date inapproximately 13 markets this weekend, including Germany on Mar 24, and the UKand Spain a day later.

Strong debuts would seemassured given Sandra Bullock's high international stock and the fact that MissCongeniality opened top in the UK inMarch 2001 on $2.7m in 360 theatres, top in Germany on $2.4m in 378 theatres inlate March 2001, and second in Spain on just under $1m on 212 screens in earlyApril 2001.

Meanwhile the studio'ssupernatural thriller Constantinepassed $100m this week, currently standing on $102.6m.

Latest figures put Alexander on $33.7m through Warner Bros markets, TheAviator on $17.9m through WarnerBros markets, Ocean's Twelve on$236.4m, The Polar Express on$119.6m, and A Very Long Engagementon $59.5m.

Fox International continuesits Robots roll-out with openingsin Australia on Mar 24 on 387 prints, and Italy on the same day on 513.

The animated picture hasgrossed $29m from its international run so far and executives will be lookingfor a pair of strong debuts as well as impressive holds in the likes of the UK,Spain, Germany, Russia and Mexico.

By way of comparison BlueSky/Fox's Ice Age opened top inAustralia in March 2002 on $1.7m in 298 theatres, and top in Italy in lateApril 2002 on $1.2m.

The crime caper sequel BeCool, currently on $3.9m, was due toopen in France on Mar 23 on 400.

Melinda And Melinda opens on 60 prints on Mar 25 in the UK, where WoodyAllen has been a regular favourite. Melinda And Melinda has grossed $10.6m to date, including $4.5m in Spainand $2.9m in France.

Kinsey was due to open in Germany on Mar 24 on 150 prints.It has amassed $2.2m to date.

DreamWorks International'shorror sequel The Ring Two wasdue to open through UIP in Australia on Mar 24, and Brazil a day later. Thepicture currently stands at $6.9m.

Paramount's Team America:Word Police was due to open throughUIP in Russia on Mar 23, which also plays host to Paramount's drama Alfie a day later. Those pictures have amassed $16.7m and$20.2m to date in respective international totals. Universal's Meet TheFockers has grossed $220.7m to date.

Buena Vista International(BVI) opens Pooh's Heffalump Moviein a number of markets including Brazil on Mar 25. The picture has grossed$11.4m and is also expected to do well over the Easter weekend.

Family title The Pacifier was due to open in its second BVI market ofAustralia on Mar 24; it has taken less than $1m through Taiwan so far.

Sony Pictures ReleasingInternational (SPRI) was due to open the serial killer thriller Suspect Zero in France on Mar 23 on 83 screens, and Italy on Mar25 on an unspecified number of screens.

Hitch passed $100m this week, although latest officialfigures issued by SPRI executives put it on $98.4m as of Mar 21.

New Line International wasset to open comedy sequel Son Of The Mask in France on Mar 23, and Australia a day later. The picture has aninternational running total to date of $9.6m.

Latest figures for other NewLine releases put Blade 3 on$67.3m, After The Sunset on$22.3m, Birth on $13.6m, Cellular on $23.4m, and The Notebook on $33.3m.
