The organisers of Critics' Week have unveiled their line up for this year's Cannes Festival.

Of the seven titles, six are first time efforts and therefore also eligible for a shot at the Camera d'Or which is given to a first film competing in any of the main selections. Cuba, Iran, Denmark, the US, France, Belgium and Canada are all represented in the nominees. (see list below)

Critics Week will also be bookended by two films: Off The Map (pictured), from US director and actor Campbell Scott, will open the sidebar on May 15 and stars Joan Allen and Sam Elliot. The closing film is Bags Banny & Il Cormorano by Italy's Edoardo Gabbriellini. The documentary Condor: Les Axes Du Mal, about a special operations group fighting terrorism in South America in the 70s, from France's Rodrigo Vasquez will have a special screening

Films are voted on by critics who receive a ballot at the end of each screening. There is also a prize for best short film awarded by Canal Plus which buys the winning films and airs them on the channel.

A special tribute will be made to director, producer, distributor and exhibitor Marin Karmitz who is acting as parrain - or godfather - to this year's event. His second film Camarades was a Critics' Week selection in 1970 and will be shown in a special screening.
