Italian star Maria Grazia Cucinotta, who shot to fame in Il Postino, has just finished shooting two Italian features.

The Sicilian actress stars alongside Brooke Shields and Chevy Chase in Mariti In Affitto (Husbands For Rent), a comedy about a man who leaves his his wife and children and home on a small island near Naples to try and make it as a sculptor in New York.

He comes back home once a year, but when his family visit him in the US they discover that he leads a double life and has a pregnant American wife.

Directed by newcomer Ilaria Borrelli, the picture, which is currently in post-production, is produced by Massimo Cristaldi of Rome's Cristaldi Pictures and will be distributed in Italy by Medusa.

Cucinotta has also joined the cast of Miracle In Palermo, a film directed by another local newcomer, Giuseppe Cino.

Produced by director Marco Risi (Three Wives) and Maurizio Tedesco for Rome's Sorpasso Film, the picture tells the story of four young people who have to deal with daily hardship and crime in Palermo.

Currently in post-production, the film stars Cucinotta and popular fellow Sicilian actors Tony Sperandeo (The Hundred Steps) and Luigi Maria Burruano (Liberi, The Return of Cagliostro).
