After ten weeks in the Scottish highlands, shooting on Nicolas Winding Refn's Valhalla Rising has been completed. The film stars Bond villain Mads Mikkelsenk as One-Eye, a savage warrior held captive by a clan leader. With the help of a young child, he escapes on a Viking ship which leads to a new land rich with secrets.

Danish director Refn was behind the Pusher trilogy and also wrote Valhalla Rising along with Roy Jacobsen. The Danish, Scottish, French co-production is set to be released on August 26 next year simultaneously in France, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland.

Wild Side Films, in conjunction with Jean Labadie's Le Pacte, has French rights while Vertigo has taken the UK. In a statement, Wild Side's Manuel Chiche said, 'Wild Side Films is very proud to participate in the financing of Nicolas Winding Refn's new film. We believe that this story will demonstrate Nicolas' extreme talent and that Mads Mikkelsen's portrayal will make this film a very nice surprise for the French public who has been waiting for it since the Pusher trilogy.'
