David Borshell and Andy Reimer have launched Inception Media Group, a Los Angeles-based venture that will acquire, produce and distribute features and other filmed entertainment across all media platforms.

Inception Media Group will offer a full range of distribution-related business solution and consulting services and will assist third parties with home video supply chain requirements including packaged goods manufacturing, warehousing, order management and order fulfilment.

Borshell and Reimer are working with the investment bank Raymond James to identify and execute strategic growth opportunities.

Lisa Yedlin has joined as senior vice-president of sales and previously held senior sales positions at Image Entertainment, Lionsgate and WEA. The company will announce further management hires in the coming weeks.

Borshell worked for Image Entertainment for 24 years, most recently as the company’s president, and was responsible for day-to-day operations of the company for the past ten years.

Reimer has more than 25 years of experience in the industry and was most recently senior vice-president of acquisition and production for HBO Video and before that served as president of the Blockbuster subsidiary DEJ Productions. He has also held senior positions with Viacom, Lionsgate and Warner Bros.

“Our collective relationships with content providers, exhibitors, retailers, distributors and technology companies is far-reaching,” Reimer said. “When combined with our respective backgrounds, we believe that Inception will be able to bring quality films and other event programming to market effectively and efficiently.”

“Our industry has seen its share of consolidation and change during the past couple of years which has led to a reduction of viable companies competing for quality programming,” Borshell added. “Andy and I have a tremendous amount of acquisition and distribution experience, and, by launching a new company together, we can provide content creators and owners a meaningful and much needed alternative.”
