Johnny Depp and Kate Winslet will jointly narrate and DannyElfman will score the IMAX and Warner Bros. giant-screen documentary DeepSea 3D.
Set for release in IMAX cinemas on Mar 3, 2006, the film marks the secondoriginal giant-screen documentary for Warner Bros following the successfulrelease of NASCAR 3D, whichgrossed nearly $23m worldwide and was the second highest grossing documentaryreleased in North America in 2004.
In a statement Warner Bros' domestic distribution president Dan Fellman pointedto that success as impetus for the new project. No doubt the success of itsprecursor was also on his mind: IMAX'sfirst underwater 3D adventure, Into The Deep, has grossed more than $70m since its 1991 release.
Indeed, the new film is produced and crewed by most of the team responsible forthat title, including director-cinematographer Howard Hall, producer ToniMyers, executive producers Graeme Ferguson and Brad Ball and associate producerJudy Carroll.
IMAX Filmed Entertainment chair and president Greg Foster said: "This filmrepresents another milestone in our quest to bring the thrill of Hollywoodentertainment to our compelling original IMAX 3D productions, and we'redelighted to be the first to join Johnny Depp and Kate Winslet with exoticscorpion fish, tiger sharks and the giant Pacific octopus."
