Anthony Peet, vice president and general manager of Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has been elected chairman of the British Video Association.

He replaces outgoing chairman John Stanley, Managing Director of Warner Home Video.

Peet said he steps into the role at a time of 'almost unprecedented economic turmoil'

'But our industry has shown previously it can ride out economic challenges and so far this year it continues to show that when consumers tighten their belts, DVDs are still seen as great value entertainment and affordable gifts,' he said.

Peet's appointment was made by members at the annual BVA council meeting.

He will be joined by new vice chairCharlie McAuley of Paramount Home Entertainment.

Elevation Sales and Fremantle Home Entertainment have also been elected onto thecouncil.
