E1 Films has taken UK and Irish rights for An Education, the Nick Hornby adaptation of British journalist Lynn Barber's memoir.

An Education is directed by Lone Scherfig (Italian For Beginners). BAFTA nominated Finola Dwyer (Backbeat, Me Without You) of Finola Dwyer Productionsand Amanda Posey (Fever Pitch) produced the film which won the World Cinema Audience Award and the World Cinema Cinematography award at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival.

The cast includes Carey Mulligan (Pride And Prejudice), Peter Sarsgaard (Garden State), Alfred Molina (Frida), Emma Thompson (Love Actually), Dominic Cooper (Mamma Mia! The Movie), Rosamund Pike (Pride And Prejudice), and Olivia Williams (The Sixth Sense).

The deal was negotiated by Alex Hamilton, director of E1 Films and Odyssey's CEO Ralph Kamp. Hamilton said 'We're delighted to have such an outstanding British Film.'

The film is financed by BBC Films and James D Stern's Endgame Entertainment.
