The Weinstein Company (TWC) has acquired North American rights to Hong Kong martial arts action title Fatal Contact from Arclight Films' Asian division Easternlight.

The film has also been sold to Metropolitan, which has bought all rights for France, and Tiberius for Germany.

Directed by Dennis Law and produced by Hong Kong's Gold Label, China Star and Point of View Production, Fatal Contact stars wushu champion Wu Jing who first came to attention playing a cold-blooded killer in Wilson Yip's SPL which Easternlight is also selling.

TWC also recently acquired North American, UK and Aus/NZ rights to Easternlight's J-horror fantasy thriller Nightmare Detective, directed by Shinya Tsukamoto and starring Ryuhei Matsuda.

Easternlight's Cannes slate also includes Daniel Lee's $20m Three Kingdoms: Resurrection Of The Dragon, starring Andy Lau and Maggie Q, which is currently shooting in China.
