The European Film Academywill give this year's lifetime achievement award to film-maker Roman Polanski.

Polanski,who has been an actor, writer director and producer, will receive the honour atthe European Film Awards on Dec 2 in Warsaw.The director himself grew up in Poland.

TheAcademy cited Polanski's "impressive contribution tothe world of film."

Hisfilms include Rosemary's Baby, Chinatown, Death And TheMaiden, The Pianist and his 2005 adaptation of Oliver Twist.
