European Film Promotion's Film Sales Support initiative hasannounced its first sales results, with 35% of its supported features films anddocumentaries selling for local distribution after festival screenings.

The initiative supports European sales agents and producersto market European film at film festivals in Latin America, East Asia, Canadaand the US.

Since 2004, FSS has helped with promotion of 143 European films andworked with about 60 different European sales agents to contribute funding forsubtitling or dubbed prints, publicity, and travel expenses.

FSS enters its third year in January, with $472,000 (400,000 Euro)budget from the European Commission's MEDIA programme along with funding fromthe German government at Spanish organization ICAA.

The FSS plans to visit the same festivals in 2006: Sundance,Mar del Plata, Buenos Aire, Shanghai, Toronto, Rio de Janeiro and Pusan.

FSS said that this year's films that sold included Unconscious, Bear Cub,Soundless, One Day InEurope, Beneath Her Window, Waiting For The Clouds, The Emperor's Journey, Dear Wendy, The 3 Rooms of Melancholia,Live-in Maid and TheForest For The Trees.
