British actor Rupert Everett has joined the cast of Jet Set 2, the sequel to hit French film of 2000, which is set to start shooting in Ibiza in September.

Miramax acquired remake and US distribution rights to the original French-language comedy Jet Set (Screen Daily, May 23, 2000). A "fish-out-of-water" tale about a comedian's attempts to infiltrate the jet set in order to save a night-spot threatened by closure, it was released by Bac Films in France where it did impressive business - pulling in 428,000 admissions in its first week alone.

Everett replaces Lambert Wilson, who took a major part in the original film directed by Fabien Onteniente.

Onteniente again directs with Samuel Le Bihan, Ornella Muti and Jose Garcia reprising their roles from the original. Michael Youn, Elie Semoun, Rossy de Palma and Paz Vega have also joined the cast.

Produced by Mandarin films, Jet Set 2 is being lined up for a possible summer 2004 release.
