Frenchsales house Wild Bunch has announced that Fahrenheit 9/11 landed in 5th place for opening day scores so farthis year when the film debuted on Wednesday in France.

MarsDistribution, which is handling the release, sent the film out on 28 prints inParis and noted that the first screening at 2:00pm welcomed 4,372 moviegoers.

Michael Moore's Palme d'Or-winningdocumentary, which had its premiere at the currently ongoing Paris Cinemafestival, falls only behind Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban, Shrek 2,Brother Bear and Kill BillVol. 2 in terms of 2004 openings. Thefilm has already been a smash in the US, taking more than $60m in just twoweeks, with expectations now of a worldwide gross in excess of $200m.

Thanks to the healthy numbers,Mars said it would increase the number of screens the film is playing on from230 to 270.
