Ned Farr's The Gymnast won the Grand Jury award for Outstanding AmericanNarrative Feature at Outfest's 12th Annual Competition Awards, while MalcolmIngram's Small Town Gay Bar andAmnon Buchbinder's Whole New Thingtook documentary and international narrative feature honours.

Michael Carbonaro from Another Gay Movie and Diane Gaidry from Loving Annabelle won the actor and actress prizes, and Q Allen Brockaand Phillip Pierce took top honours in the screenwriting category for BoyCulture.

In the audience awards, Farr's The Gymnast reigned supreme again in the HBO OUTstanding First Narrative Featurestakes, and Katherine Brooks' Loving Annabelle and Christian Faure's A Love To Hide shared the OUTstanding narrative feature award.

Kirk Marcolina and Larry Grimaldi's Camp Out won the documentary category, David Dean Bottrell's AvailableMen took short film, and CarlosArguello, Enzo Ybarra and APLA's MPowerment & Studio's My Crazy Life won documentary short film.

Special programming awards went to: Dan Hunt, Janet Boss and Reed Williams's CruelAnd Unusual for the Freedom Award;Ash Christian's Fat Girls forOUTstanding Emerging Talent; and Ho Tam's Book Of James for OUTstanding Artistic Achievement.

Over nine days Outfest 2006, the festival's 24th edition, featured 209 filmsand videos from 28 countries.
