Korean sales company Indiestory has sold animated feature The King Of Pigs to US distributor Fuzzy California and Film Verleih Gruppe for German-speaking territories.
Directed by Yeun Sang-ho, the film was selected for Cannes’ Directors Fortnight last year, marking the first time a South Korean animation had played in official selection at the festival. Indiestory also previously sold it to the UK’s Terracotta Distribution and Australia’s Madman.
Indiestory has also sold two documentaries to Thailand’s Agaligo Entertainment: Tae Jun-seek’s Mother, about the last years of a Korean grandmother; and Yun Ki-hyoung’s Dancing Cat, about the relationship between humans and stray cats.
The Seoul-based production and sales company is handling international sales on 24-minute short Jury, the directorial debut of Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) co-founder Kim Dong-ho. The satire, about the deliberations of a film festival jury, is screening in this year’s Panorama section.
Indiestory’s slate also includes two titles fresh from screening at Rotterdam: O Muel’s Jiseul, which won a World Cinema Grand Jury Prize at Sundance; and Kim Tae-gon’s Sunshine Boys, a drama about friendship and class differences.
