Iranian film-makers Hana and Samira Makhmalbaf will lead a protest today (September 24) at the San Sebastian Film Festival. against the Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s presence in the UN Council in New York.

Up to a 100 people, including members of the festival’s official jury, are expected to gather outside the Kursaal main festival building just before the Hana Makhmalbaf’s Green Days, which is about an Iranian girl suffering from depression bought on by the political situation in Iran. Protestors will carry green flags and will call for peace and democracy.

Others industry confirmed to attend include the Iranian film-maker Bahman Ghobadi, whose film No One knows About Persian Cats is in the Zabaltegi Pearls section of the festival; the remaining members of the official jury at the festival, which is led by French director Laurent Cantet; members of the ONG Irainassance; and the press.
