Sheffield Doc/Fest launch Indiegogo crowdfunding initiative
Initiative aims to raise $25,000 over a 43-day period for their 20th anniversary in 2013.
Sheffield Doc/Fest have launched a new crowdfunding initiative with Indiegogo aiming to raise $25,000 for the 20th edition of the festival next year.
The Sheffield DocFest SuperConnector, which lasts for 43 days, invites friends of the festival to become part of the wider Doc/Fest project and offers 12 levels of involvement, ranging between $30 for Doc/Fan to $2,500 for Doc/Patron. Perks of the initiative include a one-off piece of art personalised by artist-in-residence Sarah Smizz, a page mention in the catalogue and a two-hour one-on-one intensive documentary mentoring.
Charlie Phillips [pictured], marketplace director Sheffield Doc/Fest, commented: “We are always looking at ways to bring in funds from a variety of sources so that we continue to deliver a world class festival and make all the connections happen between buyers/filmmakers/producers/crew and more. And of course I’ve always been passionate about crowdfunding, so this is a natural progression for Doc/Fest.”
