Singapore's LighthousePictures has acquired its first Korean film by snapping up Pusan winner TheUnforgiven from Korea's FilmMessenger.

The debut feature of YoonJong-bin who also has a role in the film, The Unforgiven examines the dehumanising effect of Korea'smandatory two-year military service.

The independent productionpicked up three major awards at the Pusan International Film Festival inOctober - the FIPRESCI Award for best new Asian film, the NETPAC Awardfor best Korean feature and the $10,000 PSB Audience Award. It opens on around20 prints in South Korea this month.

Film Messenger, headed bypresident Yoonhee Choi, specialises in shorts and documentaries but hasrecently branched out into full-length features.
